3way wiring with line at the fixture?

Just started down the path of automation. Installed about 8 circuits this past weekend. Everything went well except for one circuit.

I have a 3 way controlling one ceiling light. I have 3 wires in each box. I believe they are load, neutral and a traveler. With Line being at the fixture.

Does this make sense and how would you connect up a Leviton or GE to this?

I need to confirm the wiring with a volt meter but wanted to post here till I find time to do that.

BTW, my first post here. But my next posts are going to be plentiful in the PLEG sub forum. That is confusing me.

First welcome to the forum, second have you searched the forum for this very topic? Their are many posts about three way wiring and also how to wire up based on the brand of switch you buy. I would recommend that you start by searching first.

Thanks Garrett. I did some searching pretty extensively, but it all depends on your search terms and what not.

I was able to find references to most wiring instances. I probably need look at the wiring at the fixture and see what lines is bringing in hot to each switch. Then try to rewire to provide the necessary connections and pick which switch i put in there.

I believe it is wiring up like the following picture.

You’re on the right track. You don’t say what type of switch you intend to use, but the important thing to note in the diagram you posted is that there is no neutral at the switches. Many Z-Wave On/Off relay switches require a neutral.

If your wiring is like that in the picture you may be better suited to use a Aeon Labs Micro Switch at the light or you could use a dimmer such as the Leviton VRI06-1LZ Scene Capable Dimmer which does not need a neutral wire.
