Hi MCV guys, or vera tech gurus supporter ones.
I’ve got a VERA 2(UI4) box and a Huawei E220 usb 3G dongle.
From the following URL: Wireless Router with a 3G/UMTS/HSDPA dongle , i didn’t changed or installing anything to my Vera, just plug the dongle and run from the console(via SSH): “lsusb” getting the following result:
root@MiOS_12892:/# lsusb Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000 Bus 001 Device 002: ID 05e3:0608 Genesys Logic, Inc. USB-2.0 4-Port HUB Bus 001 Device 003: ID 067b:2303 Prolific Technology, Inc. PL2303 Serial Port Bus 001 Device 005: ID 12d1:1003 Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. E220 HSDPA Modem / E270 HSDPA/HSUPA Modem
The last line, the “E220 HSDPA Modem / E270” corresponds to the USB 3G Dongle. That’s all that i have made until right now.
I’ve checked with : “opkg list-installed” if the packages:
-“huaweiaktbbo” and
-“comgt”
were installed on the my Vera box and they are not installed.
Ive found those packages in the opkg packages list to get installed.
My question is: if i install those packages and try the USB 3G DONGLE to get working as the previous URL saids. Is there any posibility to get my Vera box “BRICKED” or something that makes things dont work in a irreversible way??
I wanna setup this vera box on a localtion where the internet connection is only available via mobile access and i dont wanna use a 3g router as solution for it.
