2 Wire DC motor control

Still relatively new to this, but I’m trying to control a 2 wire DC motor attached to a linear actuator, I’ve found a couple controllers but they’re like $200, I don’t really want, nor do I think I need to spend that much to do what I want to do.

All I need is for the actuator to go down, and it will stop with its limit switch, and then hit a button again and it will go up to its limit switch. I don’t need feedback, power consumption, don’t even really need a wall switch, even though that would be nice.

Seems like I could do this with a 120vac to 12vdc transformer, a DPDT relay and a z-wave switch.

Any other ideas how to cheaply make this work?

Thanks
Patrick

if you don’t need to stop between limits, then you are right, a Z-Wave switch and DPDT relay will do the job

Fantastic, so my next question, how to wire it all up, and which relay and switch would be the best for an attic environment.

I’ve found so many schematics for wiring a reversing relay setup my head is spinning, some include multiple relays etc etc, I want to keep this as simple as possible.

Thanks a ton
Patrick
